MASH

Hillingdon Multi-Agency Safeguarding Hub (MASH) is a multi-agency team whose information sharing makes it easier for social workers to decide on the best type of intervention needed to protect the child and support the family, and means families get the right help quicker.

Hillingdon Multi-agency Safeguarding Hub

When a child protection referral is made to children’s services the MASH team will review the information and decide on the best course of action to safeguard that child. It is a multi-agency team with representatives from the following services:

  • Children’s social care
  • Police
  • Independent domestic violence advocacy
  • Education
  • Probation
  • Health Visitor
  • Housing (satellite access)
  • CSE prevention manager
  • Hillingdon Drug and Alcohol service (HDAS)

The MASH model means that information from different agencies can be shared quickly so social workers can build up a better picture of the child’s life from the outset. This makes it easier for social workers to decide on the best type of intervention needed to protect the child and support the family, and means families get the best outcome to meet their needs.

If social worker intervention is not required, Mash will step down enquires and sign post to various agencies within the borough.

The MASH team is located in the mezzanine in the civic centre, each team member has access to their own agency’s database and can lawfully share this information in a safe and managed way.
